Davina Hathaway 4/16/2020 9:58 AMI took my sustainable living to a new level this week. In addition to a daily walk with my children to the Farmer's Market, I've made a habit to walk to the neighborhood Walmart for anything needed that is not food-related. My daughter and I walked to Walgreens to pick up a prescription over the weekend. It is different, but I like it. I have decreased gases in the air by not driving, am active by walking more, and only buying what is needed since I am walking with whatever I purchase. -
Davina Hathaway 4/13/2020 9:31 AMAnother week where I continue to acquire increased sustainable habits. The current pandemic has assisted in my decisions to use the local Farmer's Market instead of big box stores for only food needed every few days. Walking there has reduced my need to use a vehicle. The biggest feat I have conquered however was giving up plastic water bottles as a family. I don't want to even calculate the unbelievable negative environmental impact we contributed to over a long period of time. It was a smooth transition. -
Davina Hathaway 4/02/2020 6:50 AMSo far I am meeting my weekly challenge to only purchase food needed for the week and only purchase locally grown food at the Farmer's Market in North Richland Hills where I live. My goal is to possibly take some pictures and post, however, I am constantly interrupted throughout the day with at least one child needing to tell me something! -
Davina Hathaway 3/24/2020 2:49 PMContinuing to go well, during this time walking and biking with my kids daily has become critical to our mental health and well being I think. I cannot believe my car is still parked in the garage. I understand from news reports that the U.S. as a whole due to the coronavirus. People staying home is contributing less to Global Climate Change. This is a good thing, not sure it outweighs people dying, but nevertheless at least for now a slower pace has benefits to the air we breathe. -
Davina Hathaway 3/23/2020 8:02 AMIn an effort to stay home as much as possible and not run out to the store for every little thing during this pandemic, I have gone back to the basics for cleaning. Usually, I use many "toss and go" items to clean. Yesterday, I decided bleach, hot water, a bucket and towel work just as well and nothing got tossed into the trash. Yay!! -
Davina Hathaway 3/23/2020 7:58 AMI continue to abstain from beef and chicken, only eat fish -
Davina Hathaway 3/23/2020 7:56 AMI watched a CNN documentary called "Unseen Enemy" which pertains to Global Climate Change and the current Global Pandemic. I am not sure if this is on the list of Bonus Films, if not I plan to ask the Professor to add it. I would highly recommend it. It includes many of the topics discussed in class about how an overpopulated world, combined with constant depletion of our natural resources contributes greatly to significant climate change and weather patterns which in turn directly have a trickle-down effect on new viruses between animals and humans as we encroach as humans on their habitats. -
Dalton Brown 3/04/2020 11:03 AMI’ve been trying to learn more about sustainability in Fort Worth but have been coming up short due to time constraints -
