Sherida and Gustave(III) Neuss 2/16/2022 9:58 AMWe will attend a meeting at the Cincinnati Nature Center on the subject of Fields on Fire, pertaining to the practice of burning off the fields. -
Sherida and Gustave(III) Neuss 2/11/2022 5:18 PMWe are remodeling our house. We replaced our old toilets with water saving bank technology. We replaced our appliances, washer, dishwasher, refrigerator, with energy efficient replacements. We will monitor water usage for savings. We will not let the water run the entire time that we are brushing our teeth. :-)
During the Summer months we will be sure to use timers when watering is necessary.
We will continue to keep tap water in the fridge for drinking versus buying bottled water. -
Sherida and Gustave(III) Neuss 2/11/2022 5:05 PMWe currently grab plastic bags for anything and everything. We store screws, nuts, bolts, pens, pencils, etc. We repackage frozen meat bought in bulk. We need to remember what happens to these bags once they go into the trash bin.
We hope to find grocery shopping bags that we can use going forward, that are washable and sturdy. In the meantime, we will start taking dry cleaning bags, all plastic bags, bubble wrap, etc., to our Kroger's recycle bins. We will be sure to continue to use our glass/permanent food storage containers for leftovers. -
Sherida and Gustave(III) Neuss 2/11/2022 4:33 PMSlowly clearing the freezer of questionable frozen foods (vegetables, pizza, pot pies). We have always enjoyed a myriad of fresh fruits for breakfasts. This week's grocery trip included fresh vegetables, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, bell peppers, romaine and more. Our current schedules are making healthy eating more difficult. We have a lot going on and it is easier to grab fast food while we are out. Our kitchen and house are under construction. Some days we have scrambled eggs with a touch of sawdust.-
Jennifer Goldschneider 2/15/2022 5:44 PMIt's extra tough to make lifestyle changes when your home is being renovated, so give yourselves an extra pat on the back for taking this on at this disrupted time!

Sherida and Gustave(III) Neuss 2/03/2022 4:40 PMAllison, thank you for the pancake recipe and the reference to the Healthy Gut Cookbook. It is timely.
Sheri and Gus decided to embrace more meatless meals this week. The first mountain to climb is to clear the freezer of frozen meats and frozen meals that include meat. With Covid still around, we buy in bulk and try and stay clear of frequent visits to the grocery store. Sheri is still recovering from Covid even though she is fully vaccinated and boosted. And yes, boosting the immune system is key.
We currently have a lot of frozen meals to finish up. We will find recipes that we both can enjoy that do not include meat and start a grocery list for the next shopping trip. This should be interesting. :-)-
Allison Danneels 2/09/2022 2:14 PMAfter doing our weekly reading this week, I took out a subscription with Green Bean. They deliver local, seasonal vegetables to you every week.
