Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.

Candace Garthee 3/02/2018 1:12 PMI take public transportation every chance I get. I live on a metro stop so it is easy and convenient for me to travel by train. I prefer to travel this way because it's more peaceful, less stressful, and it's just better for the environment. During the summer time I prefer to ride my bike if it can get me to where I need to go. It's just a 20 minute bike ride on a beautiful trail for me to get from home to downtown D.C for lunch or to hit up a museum. When I do travel by car, it's always with my partner and we are carpooling. When I go to school every day I either take the metro then bus, or I ride with my partner to his work where I then catch a bus that takes me to campus. Right now it's too cold to ride my bike, but I can't wait until summer comes! When the weather gets nice, I will ride my bike from the metro to campus. It might be a little challenging, but it will be worth the experience! -
Candace Garthee 2/23/2018 8:21 AMI have been organizing students and faculty from my university community to come together to plan a sustainable food educational forum! -
Candace Garthee 2/15/2018 9:20 PMBy applying the ecological principle to my life that all living things are interconnected through a network of relationships and are co-dependent on one another, I can start to reduce my ecological footprint through acknowledging that my actions will have an effect on other organisms (including humans) within this network. By understanding that I depend on this network, and this network depends on me, I will be motivated to have as little negative impact as possible on it, so that I too can thrive within this network. I know that the well-being of this network determines the well-being of myself, so I will do everything I can to ensure its sustainability. -
Candace Garthee 2/15/2018 8:55 PMThe weather is sooooo nice outside. There's no excuse to not get outside and spend some quality time with nature, or ride your bike to work/school! -
Candace Garthee 2/05/2018 10:28 AMI hope to gain skills related to project management for sustainability projects in my community and learn how to be successful in reaching out to people and my local community to come together for a single cause. My goal is to target as many people as I can to get involved in my cause. A behavior I'd like to change is to go back to a eating a strict vegetarian diet. What I can contribute to my group is passion, determination, and leadership.-
Dann Sklarew 2/06/2018 7:55 PMWe all have much to benefit from you developing these skills and practices, Candace -- good luck!
