This weeks reading was interesting. I look forward to leading discussion today.

    CSL5 Reflection:
I can be more involved by helping introduce new neighbors to everyone as more new families move into my neighborhood. It helps parents meet other neighbors who are also parents of younger children. My passion could help my community by teaching others about sustainability and sustainable practices.

    CSL:
    1. What concerns me the most about how we are affecting the planet is how our impact is ignored or scientific research is being brought to the level of  “fake news”.
2.Heinberg was trying to show that everything is connected. Systems thinking helps people live more sustainably by showing them that the decisions they make impact others as well.
3.I would personally eat more vegan/vegetarian than I do now. Also I would try an obtain my sources of protein through the mostly local sources like local farms, butchers, and hunters.
    4. I think the I=PAT forfmula helps us with strategies by showing that there is multiple variables that influence our impact.
    5. Humans have an increasing influence on the rate of climate change. This has caused drought in Syria and forced millions of individuals to leave. Conflict has also caused this major issue.
6.When individuals are forced to leave their homes they will migrate to the source of most water and food. If climate change and food/water scarcity inclreases, more and more individuals will be displaced from their homes.
7.Areas in the Middle East are some of the regions impacted by environmental issues. In the U.S. those who will be impacted the most are those who are in danger of sea level rise and those who live in rural environments and don’t have many sources of nutrition.
8.My footprint has actually gone down since last year. I was surprised since I still commute for school everyday. One thing I could change is to rely more on public transportation when it is a possible option.

CSL1: I hope to learn more sustainable practices and concepts throughout this course. I try to be as sustainable as possible in all aspects in my life but have room to improve. I would like to change my commuting behavior by hopefully carpooling more often. I commute over 45 minutes five days a week but i know people who come from the same area. For my group, I can contribute creative ideas and data collection.
