Picked strawberries for the first time ever!  So delicious.   Froze many for future needs.  Much better than buying fruit out of season.   Going blueberry picking in July.  Looking forward to it!

I have been eating a few meals a week without processed food.   The food is so flavorful and I actually feel better!   Still working on getting my family to eat less meat.

I have completely STOPPED using straws of any kind.  Completely unnecessary.   Amazing how many straws I turn down in just a day.  The only time I think I might miss a straw is if I ever get a fountain pop from a drive-thru while on the road.

There's a Girl Scout troop in my town that has started a campaign to encourage all of the restaurants in Cranford, NJ to stop serving straws, or to start using stainless steel straws. There are a lot of restaurants, so that will be a great impact!

Last night we had perch caught from the Detroit River with steamed vegetables and fruit for desert!

I did shoreline clean up this weekend - removing plastic water bottles, milk jugs, grocery bags, bottle caps, chip bags from the shore of the Detroit River.

    • That's really fantastic and inspiring. I love the positive impact that has on the animals that live there and for other folks who enjoy being there. I wish everyone would help in keeping it clean!
